drivetrain BOX

Objective

Design a structural element for the rear to support a drivetrain and suspension.

Process

  • 3D sketches of basic suspension
  • Tolerances for rod ends and mounting hardware

Results

  • Box capable of holding bearings, rod ends, drive train elements, and clearance for car parts in movement. 

Improvement Opportunities

  •  Further simulation is needed to refine plate thicknesses respective to expected  

              loading

What I Learned

  • How to refine my CAD workflow to design with difficult assemblies and STEP files

Hydroelectric turbine

Objective

Design and optimize a small hydroelectric turbine for a dam.

Process

  • Analyzed flow of water
  • Analyzed blade angles of stator and turbine blades

Results

  • Designed a small turbine with stators to handle hydroelectric dam flow 

Improvement Opportunities

  • Optimization of fin count using current turbomachinery knowledge
  • CFD analysis

AUTOCAD ROLLER ASSEMBLY

Objective

Draw an AutoCAD assembly of a roller mechanism. 

Process

  • Translating flat view drawings of parts into an isometric 
  • Combining isometric drawings into an assembly
  • Bill of materials creation 
  • Creating flat view drawings of parts

Results

  • Completed an AutoCAD assembly of a structural roller 

Improvement Opportunities

  • Drawings could use better scaled elements and colors
